ICU Ventilators for UNOPS — A Global COVID-19 Response

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, intensive care capacity became the most urgent question in healthcare — and ICU ventilators the most sought-after devices in the world. Supply chains were strained, factories were overwhelmed, and hospitals everywhere were counting beds and breathing machines. It was in this moment that UNOPS, the United Nations Office for Project Services, needed a partner it could rely on.

YessPharma signed a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) with UNOPS to supply ICU ventilators at the height of the crisis. Over a two-year period, more than 200 ventilators were delivered under the agreement — the GE HealthCare Carescape R860 and the Medtronic Puritan Bennett 980, two of the most advanced intensive care ventilation platforms available.

But this was never just a supply contract. Each machine had to reach a hospital, be installed, and be placed in the hands of clinicians who could use it with confidence — often in countries under travel restrictions and lockdowns. YessPharma handled deliveries, on-site installation and application training, working together with local support teams in every country.

The agreement took our teams across four continents. In Kosovo, 45 ventilators were installed; in the Maldives, 44; in Georgia, 37; in Benin, 34; in Albania, 20; in Cameroon, 15; in Trinidad and Tobago, 10; and in Belize, 5. From the Balkans to the Indian Ocean, from West Africa to the Caribbean, each installation meant another intensive care bed ready for the patients who needed it most.

Delivering critical care technology to eight countries in the middle of a global pandemic tested everything we stand for: speed, reliability and genuine clinical support. The trust UNOPS placed in YessPharma — and the lives supported by those 200+ ventilators — remains one of the projects we are most proud of.
