Klinika Amerikane — Carrying a Founder's Legacy Forward

Every great hospital starts as someone's conviction. This one started in 1996, in a 200-square-metre office in Prishtina, where Dr. Behar Kusari opened a small practice with a very large idea: that families in Kosovo deserved the same standard of medicine as anywhere in Europe.

Dr. Kusari was a pioneer of reproductive medicine — the man who brought the science of infertility treatment to Kosovo, trained internationally and holding memberships in ESHRE and ASRM. What he built grew the way the best institutions grow: organically, patient by patient, year by year. In 2007 the practice became a dedicated fertility centre; by 2017 it had become Klinika Amerikane — the American Clinic — a modern hospital covering fertility treatment, gynecology and obstetrics, neonatology, pediatrics and surgery, working around the clock. Today his legacy is carried forward by his family — and the hospital that bears his name keeps growing exactly as he envisioned: from zero, on its own strength, into one of the largest private hospitals in Kosovo.

In the latest expansion alone, we equipped the hospital with 14 patient monitors, 4 anesthesia workstations — bringing the total to 8 — 3 operating tables, an incubator, 2 infant warmers, 2 ECG systems and 2 defibrillators, all delivered, installed and supported by our local team.

And that is only the newest chapter. With more than 10 ultrasound systems working across its departments, Klinika Amerikane today holds the largest GE HealthCare install base in Kosovo — from the fertility lab to the delivery room to the operating theatre.
